Traditional Art

Jewelry + Pottery

My Art, this has long been a form of resistance. From the silver coins my ancestors would melt down to make jewelry, to the point the U.S. government had to remove silver coinage & replace them with paper forms of 10 & 5 cent denominations. the push & pull of the clay, knowing how to find the center & balance so all things will be beautiful again.

Silversmith- 3rd Generation-

Each piece I create is a small representation of me as an artist. All of the pieces include hand-cut metals, and I in-person select every piece of turquoise that goes into my art. They are melted & joined, shaped & shaved.

Each piece I've done is an exchange of energy. In my culture, our prayer & intention goes into each piece & acts as a form of protection.

Pottery -

I became fascinated with pottery at a young age the smell of the wet clay aways made me reminiscent of the summertime monsoons that would cascade along our traditional homelands.

I learned more modern method of wheel thrown vessels, majority of my clay works are made from recycled clay bodies from others cast away work, I crush rehydrate & hand wedge and mix the clay till they’re are completely recycled into usable form. a process that can take days to get the right consistency. I invoke the teaching of Hozho(Balance) in each piece as I center & pull my signature marbleized clay into shape. the marbleization represents me in this world both parts of my sprits joined.
